PROJECT elmvale

This basement renovation at Project Elmvale was a collaborative project with the Holmes on Homes Family Rescue show which aired on HGTV in the US and CTV life in Canada. We pushed Mike Holmes right out of his beige comfort zone on this one. The goal of this renovation was to double the living space in this petite family bungalow by finishing the basement. The Wishlist: a family gathering spot for movie nights, a washroom with shower, a laundry room, home office, playroom, and storage. We ticked all of the boxes. The elephant in the room is that this basement has a very low ceiling height and it wasn't in the budget to dig down deeper so we used a lot of colour blocking and paint moments to keep the eye moving. We transformed a terrifying cold cellar room into a bright and fun home office. Project Elmvale is a petite space but functional with custom cabinetry maximizing every inch of it.
