Holy Molasses... What a year this has been!
We are so thankful that during this building boom we get to work with the best team of designers, trusted and sturdy builders, architects that blow our minds, suppliers who have our backs, clients who trust our process/visions, and finally supportive families that seem to just get us when we "need a break from work" while scrolling through pinterest for DIY ideas, doodling trim walls on napkins at date night, and daydreaming design at any given time on our weekends off. Without that kind of support, this Train can't run. SO THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU... and those of you following along giving us a platform to showcase our work.
Shall we move along to Christmas decor? T'is the season.
We had the pleasure of Chrismifying our clients home for the Pickering College Holiday Home Tour this year and we called it the Navy, Natural, Noel. One night I had a dream of baby fawns and how cute they are and thought...yes! Yes to fawns for Christmas this year.

Building on this theme our high school interns hand painted little fawn balls. We grabbed this multiple pack of brown balls from Canadian Tire.

I think it's so important to look at the vibe of your home before you put together your Christmas scheme. Holiday decor can mean so many different things to so many different people. In this case we just wanted to compliment what we had established in the renovation. The reno established our colour scheme but also meant adding natural elements like white oak, to carry through our design concept. Look at this stunning tree collar we found at Crate & Barrel.

It really fills that bottom section of the tree that can appear a little lumpy and slumpy with a tree skirt on it as an alternative.

Room to bloom killing it with the florals as per usual

Blue tulips? Why the heck not!

Designer tip: A quick and cost effective way to bring holiday cheers?
Balls: Fill your sink or bathtub with them, fill a bowl with them. Instant Cheer!
Fresh Greenery:
It's simple yet effective. Add a little fresh seasonal greenery to any surface in your home and you instantly feel cozy and warm. Here are some of our favorites:
Magnolia
Boxwood
Cinnamon
Cedar
Succulents
Roses:
Did we do an entire Tree with Fresh cut roses? We sure did. Hey if you can't be a little extra around the holidays when can you?
To make these glitzy balls, all you need to do is purchase clear plastic balls. Spray the interior with spray glue (hair spray works too). Dump some glitter and swirl it around.

Baking goods:
This is the time of year to stock those pantries my friends. Most folks have some time off of the regular hustle and bustle and baking can be very relaxing and beneficial to your belly.
Pro Tip: Wear stretchy pants. No guilt that way.
A large Thank you to the Bulk Barn for sponsoring our pantry filling/styling this year

Pop some bubbly and celebrate all the magic of the year.
Wear your crown tall and mighty.

A very Special thank you to this babe Tricha, our wonderful client for not only allowing us to gut her house this year, then come back and Chrismify it, but even indulging us in partaking in our photoshoot. #DreamClient
We also want to thank you Arnal Photography for the wonderful photography and allowing us to capture this Christmas memories through your lens.
Hug your loved ones tight this year. Take some time to relax your mind. I tell my kids all the time you need to be bored sometimes. That's when the best ideas come to the surface. Gotta leave room for that.
Have a wonderful holiday and we will catch you back in the new year.
Please note our studio will be closed from December 24 - January 3rd.
Cheers!
xoxo Team MBD
