Time is flyinnnnnn'

End of March? Who? How? What? When did this happen?... The funny thing is, I feel like time should be going slow with the whole "P" word and all (we are trying to not speak of the word pandemic)... But no, time is flying by faster than it ever has been!

We are crawling up to the late winter snowstorm finish line. CAN WE MAKE IT? YES, WE CAN!!

This month is one of our favourite types of news letters. A reveal... WITH the before photos. We all love a good transformation!

We won't continue with this anticipation, we are bringing you MBD Project Heathwood. This project turned out to be the perfect combination of classic, timeless and cool. Some of the most special design features in this space are the custom range hood, oversized bubble pendants, a little interior cupboard surprise, floating shelves, and pantry storage galore. Come as we walk y'all through the design of this easy-breezy kitchen.

How wild is this before and after shot of the whole kitchen? It's crazy. For this project, we took out the wall dividing the dining room and kitchen to extend the kitchen all the way over. For some, losing the dining room can be terrifying. But we always break it down in a more logical way. How often do you use your dining room? If it's less than once a month (when we aren't in a global "P" word) then ditching the dining area may be in the cards. Trust us when we say it will change your life by expanding your kitchen... and don't worry, we just relocated the dining room. Still lots of room to sit down with family and feast!
One of the special touches we included in this project was the interiors of the cabinetry. Sometimes an overlooked element, but not in this kitchen. We lined the interiors of the cabinetry in our favourite white oak to give it that designer touch. Our clients also had the most fabulous dishes and we really wanted them to have a spot to display all of those items.
Can we talk about these oversized bubble pendants? Like, come on! These light fixtures, along with the loop counter stools are an absolute show stopper. They create a beachy blissful space for our clients, one of whom is an amazing chef!
Who said pantry? With a pantry situation like this, you would be able to have every cereal under the sun lined up, colour coded, and in alphabetical order. We love to continue the countertop along to have it peak out between the lower and upper cabinets in order to break them up a bit!
We designed a couple of floating shelves to tie in with the interiors of the cabinetry and to create a little styling moment. These shelves can bring so much personality to a space.
This was one of our favorite pantries to style. Pulling out all of the crystal and coloured glass gave us the inspo to accessorize using a cool colour blocking style. We love to incorporate our client's precious pieces into the final styling.
You can most definitely use some of your existing pieces. We recommend pairing them with some new items, florals, and greenery for a freshly curated collection that is signature to you and your life!
Finally, the spice drawer... this addition was super personal to our clients. A 10-course meal will be no stranger to this kitchen! We wanted to incorporate a large drawer in order to lay out all of their spices so that they could easily find and grab them when needed.
We are so thrilled with how this project turned out. Classic with pops of cool for these clients. This project is the perfect blend of mixing the old in with the new, while staying true to their roots!

We have come to an end... but not for long. April is right around the corner. We will meet you guys back here, same time, same place, next month.

Happy Decorating!
